Altrusa is an organization of professional, executive, and business persons. It brings together members from a wide variety
of career fields and occupations, who work together to assist human needs and improve the quality of life through service
projects and programs.
Our Mission
To improve our community by involvement in hands-on and financial aid service projects. Our major focus is literacy, but
our projects also include support of the Domestic Abuse program, ADVANCE, dialysis unit, etc. The major literacy projects
include: BHS scholarships, minigrants to Brookings County teachers, Reading Buddies program at Hillcrest Elementary, support
of the Reading program at the Middle School, etc.

Becoming a Member
Who Can Join? We invite anyone interested in the issues and topics that we focus on to join our club. Members must
be able to dedicate enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization.
Benefits of Joining You
will meet many outstanding members of our community that you would not normally know or meet in your day to day activities.
We have a great time when we get together.
How Can You Join? To join we need a completed application form and membership
dues for the first year. Please contact us for more information and a copy of the application.
